More Than Just Company: Why I Chose This Path

I didn't set out to become a 'professional companion' in the polished, brochure sense. I set out to be the person who is genuinely there with you.
People often ask how I got into this line of work, usually with a look that says they're hoping for either a dramatic confession or a wildly glamorous answer. I hate to disappoint, but the truth is simpler, and a bit more human.
For years, I was the person friends called when life had gone sideways. Breakups, career panic, family tension, that very specific midnight message that begins with 'Are you awake?' and absolutely means trouble. I wasn't the loudest voice in the room, but I was usually the calm one.
When I noticed what people were really looking for
What surprised me wasn't how often people needed advice. It was how often they needed to feel genuinely accompanied while they figured things out themselves.
Again and again, people told me some version of the same thing: 'I just feel better after talking to you.' Not because I had magic answers. Usually because I was paying close attention, and not trying to turn the moment into a performance.
Perhaps what I had to offer wasn't just my time. It was my attention.
Why this became a profession, not a persona
Eventually, I had to admit the obvious: this wasn't a side note in my life. It was the work I cared about most. Creating experiences where someone can breathe, soften, laugh, and feel fully met is a skill, and one I've chosen to take seriously.
That is also why I care so much about tone and honesty. Professional companionship isn't theatre. It's not about pretending to be someone else, and it's definitely not about pretending you are someone else either. We both get to arrive as ourselves.
Professional companionship isn't about creating a fantasy. It's about creating a genuine experience.
